Junior mechanical engineering major Alex Bansleben has been awarded a prestigious 2012 American Council of Engineering Companies/Maryland (ACEC/MD) Scholarship. Bansleben, who has served as a Research Assistant at the Center for Environmental Energy Engineering (CEEE) and as a Teaching Assistant in the Clark School, received one of three ACEC/MC scholarships, each valued at $2,500, given to bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD students in engineering who are interested in pursuing careers in the field. Scholarships are awarded based upon several factors, including the student’s cumulative GPA, Maryland residency, engineering work experience, a recommendation from a faculty member, consulting engineer, or land surveyor, and the student’s college activities.

The American Council of Engineering Companies/Maryland (ACEC/MD) is a nonprofit association located in Baltimore and made up of over 80 engineering consulting firms. The approximately 6,000 employees of ACEC/MD’s firms are heavily involved in local infrastructure design and construction projects. For more information on ACEC/MD, visit their website .
