Derek Paley explains experiments conducted in the Neutral Buoyancy Research Facility to the UAE/Northrop Grumman visitors.

Sixteen undergraduate students from the United Arab Emirates Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) and nine Northrop Grumman unmanned systems engineers and representatives visited Maryland Robotics Center laboratories on Monday, Aug. 12. The students were winners of a UAV contest in their country sponsored by Northrop Grumman. They were in town to attend the annual conference of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International.

While at Maryland the group toured the following facilities and learned about the research conducted in them.

Collective Dynamics and Control Laboratory and Neutral Buoyancy Research Facility, hosted by Asociate Professor Derek Paley (AE/ISR).

CPS and Cooperative Autonomy Laboratory, hosted by Maryland Robotics Center Director Nuno Martins? (ECE/ISR) graduate students.

Intelligent Servosystems Laboratory, hosted by Professor P. S. Krishnaprasad (ECE/ISR)

Simulation-Based System Design Laboratory, hosted by Assistant Research Scientist Peter Svec.

Micro Robotics Laboratory, hosted by Assistant Professor Sarah Bergbreiter (ME/ISR).

Semi-Autonomous Systems Laboratory, hosted by Associate Professor Nikhil Chopra (ME).

Robotics Automation and Medical Systems Laboratory, hosted by Professor Jaydev Desai?s (ME) graduate students.

Presentation about educational opportunities available through the A. James Clark School of Engineering?s Office of Advanced Engineering Education by George Syrmos, Executive Director, OAEE.
