The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) wanted to get the most out of their research and development, and turned to the Center for Environmental Energy Engineering (CEEE) for assistance in an effort to evaluate research and development of advanced space-cooling technologies to increase energy efficiency and reliability for customers - and to develop and enhance power management capabilities for utility companies. In order to direct future research, EPRI held a roadmapping workshop led by CEEE Director and Mechanical Engineering professor Reinhard Radermacher, to develop the most promising of these technologies. The workshop provides a mechanism to help forecast technology developments and a framework to plan and coordinate technology developments.
