For the spring 2009 semester Spanish exchange student Marina López Cercós, is visiting from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV) in Valencia, Spain. A senior industrial engineering major-which she describes as a mix of mechanical, electrical, materials and manufacturing engineering, Cercós plans on graduating back home at the UPV in June.

While here, Cercós has been busy taking ENME489Q-Special Topics in Mechanical Engineering: Managing for Innovation and Quality and ENME489W-Special Topics in Mechanical Engineering: Pollution and Waste Technology.

Along with taking two upper level ME classes, she is busy with her Senior Research Project, which her university in Spain requires. She decided to complete this project at the University of Maryland and will finish her research in May.

?I enjoy the classes because I like the experience I'm having here, 'specially meeting people and working in groups,? says Cercós, ?However, just doing my research project I would have enough work for all the semester or even more! I'm really, really busy.?

When asked about her semester at the University of Maryland, Cercós has apparently been having a wonderful time. She is currently living in the New Leonardtown suites with five UMD students, which she says is, ?An amazing experience!?
