Associate Professor Hugh Bruck

 

The student members of Pi Tau Sigma (PTS), the mechanical engineering honor society at the University of Maryland, selected Associate Professor Hugh Bruck to receive the Faculty Appreciation Award for Fall 2007. Dr. Bruck currently teaches ENME 382, Engineering Materials and Manufacturing Processes. Pi Tau Sigma members cited his excellent teaching ability and the rigor with which he taught the material as factors in their selection. He will be honored at the Pi Tau Sigma induction ceremony with a certificate.

Mr. Philip Knowles was chosen to receive the Best Teaching Assistant Award from Pi Tau Sigma for Fall 2007 as well. Philip is a teaching assistant for ENME 331, Fluid Mechanics. PTS members cited his willingness to help students and for giving clear explanations of the difficult subject matter. A certificate and a $500 check will be presented to Mr. Knowles at the PTS induction ceremony, and his name will be added to a plaque outside of the Mechanical Engineering office. Mr. Knowles was also honored as a Distinguished Teaching Assistant by the UMD Graduate School and the Center for Teaching Excellence in 2004 and 2007.
