Assistant Professor Satyandra K. Gupta has been selected to receive a Presidental Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). The PECASE program recognizes outstanding scientists and engineers who, early in their careers, show exceptional potential for leadership at the frontiers of knowledge. Fewer than 20 researchers funded by the National Science Foundation are selected for the award each year. Dr. Gupta will be honored at a ceremony held at the White House later this winter.
Dr. Gupta received this award for developing Spatial Algorithms for Automated Design of Multi-Piece Multi-Stage Molds for Manufacturing Geometrically Complex Heterogeneous Objects.
In receiving the PECASE award, Dr. Gupta joins fellow Department of Mechanical Engineering Assistant Professor Don DeVoe as the only two Clark School of Engineering faculty to receive this prestigious award.
In addition, Dr. Gupta is also the recipient of the 2001 NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award, the 2000 Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award, and the 2001 Society of Manufacturing Engineer's Robert W. Galvin Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award.
