The University of Maryland Chapter of Engineering World Health will host a presentation from undergraduate student group Synapto on Thursday, March 8th at 6:00 p.m. in the Pepco Room (Room 1105) of the Jeong H. Kim Engineering Building. Synapto is an early-stage biotech company born out of the Clark School and College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences. The group is focused on revolutionizing Alzheimer's diagnosis through portable EEG and Machine Learning.

Engineering World Health is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that engages the skills and passions of students and professionals from around the globe to improve healthcare delivery in low-income countries. EWH volunteer engineers use their unique abilities to install and repair life-saving equipment in the world's most resource-poor hospitals and to train local technicians in order to build sustainable capacity. In addition, members from the UMD chapter of EWH will be applying their knowledge to compete in an annual national design competition aimed at creating innovative designs for medical instrumentation for resource-poor areas to improve their health care.

Students from all majors - both within and outside the Clark School - are invited to join the UMD chapter of EWH. To learn more information, please attend the March 8th presentation or email ewhatumd@gmail.com.
